Not joining back and arm as separate pieces reduces the whole body to a single wrapping surface — there is no transition point between resting an elbow and leaning back. The arrangement also cuts the number of welds and joints, which lowers the number of places corrosion can start outdoors. The tapered, splayed legs balance the volume of the shell by lightening it at the floor.
