Not leaving the arm as bare metal but wrapping it in a padded sleeve matters for outdoor stools: a metal arm heated in the sun reaches a temperature nobody wants to touch in midsummer, and the wrap breaks that contact. The same wrap removes the feel of a hard edge under the elbow. Because the stretched mesh back carries no padding, it dries quickly once wet; there is no foam holding damp into the cool of the evening.
