Connecting back to seat with spaced bars instead of a solid panel leaves the chair transparent from behind: the curved leather back stands as a mass above while the zone beneath passes light, so the chair never reads as a block sitting on the floor. Finishing those bars in a brass tone makes that zone a layer of its own — the chair is three bands: leather above, metal in the middle, a round seat below. The round seat, having no corners, eases movement through narrow gaps.
