Removing the arms cuts the chair's width directly — more covers fit around the same table than with an arm model, and the chair slides fully under. Without arms the frame might have resisted lateral flex less well; crossing the back legs on the side face compensates exactly for that, triangulating the frame so no side-to-side play remains. A chair for busy, tightly set cafe layouts.
